Re: Emisije CO2 i NOx

Re: Emisije CO2 i NOx

VW will offer European diesel owners extended warranty, EU says
http://europe.autonews.com/article/2017 ... ty-eu-says
BRUSSELS -- Volkswagen Group has agreed to offer an extra two-year guarantee but no compensation to European customers, a European Commission spokesman said on Wednesday.
The offer was made in talks with Europe's consumer rights chief after the automaker cheated on emissions tests.
EU officials have piled pressure on VW to compensate European customers after it admitted to U.S. regulators that it installed illicit software in as many as 11 million diesel vehicles sold worldwide -- the majority of them in Europe.
Despite VW's admission of wrongdoing in the United States, it says it has not broken the law in Europe and sees no need to compensate consumers there.
VW Group CEO Matthias Mueller told the EU's commissioner for consumer affairs, Vera Jourova, earlier this week that the company would now offer European customers a two-year extended warranty, the Commission spokesman said.
However, commenting on the talks with the commissioner, VW did not confirm that it had agreed to extend its guarantee. The company instead referred back to earlier "confidence-building measures" including a commitment to fix all vehicles affected by this autumn, saying that updating the software would not detract from the car's performance.
"Volkswagen has said all along that it cares for every customer," it said in an email on Wednesday.
An extended warranty offer would be the first concession made by the company in response to mounting pressure from Brussels to do more for its diesel customers following months of talks with EU officials and more than a year after VW's emissions scandal scandal broke.
Jourova and other EU regulators have repeatedly expressed frustration over VW's attitude to European customers in not offering the cash payouts granted to U.S. owners of its cars.
But the European Union is limited in what it can do to pressure the company since the power to police the car industry currently lies with member states, which approve new car models that are then sold throughout the bloc.
Unlike the United States, a patchwork of different legal rules across the Europe Union also weakens the chances of car owners successfully suing carmakers.

Berlin demands costly German recall of 12 million diesel cars, report says
http://europe.autonews.com/article/2017 ... ars-report
BERLIN -- Germany's Transport Ministry is pushing carmakers to update the engine management software in up to 12 million diesel vehicles in the country, people familiar with the talks told Reuters.
The move shows how German lawmakers are flexing their muscles ahead of national elections on Sept. 24, forcing carmakers to reduce polluting nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines.
The dangers to public health from diesel fumes became a political issue in the wake of revelations in September 2015 that Volkswagen Group had systematically cheated emissions tests to sell cars that produced excessive pollution.
Germany's top car manufacturers volunteered a recall of 630,000 cars in April 2016 to fix diesel emissions management software but that failed to reassure regulators and policymakers that pollution levels are under control.
Since then several European cities including Stuttgart and Munich have considered banning some diesel vehicles, blaming emissions for causing increased respiratory disease.
On Monday, lawmakers upped the pressure in closed-door talks with the auto industry. The ministry is in discussions with German auto industry associations VDA and VDIK as well as representatives from local governments to try and cut nitrogen oxide pollution by about 25 percent, the sources said.
It could cost 1.5 billion to 2.5 billion euros ($1.7 billion to $2.8 billion) to update cars and the ministry is demanding that vehicles with engines conforming to the euro-4, euro-5 and euro-6 standards be part of the recall, government sources said.
The government has demanded that the auto industry shoulder the costs and is pushing for a solution to be presented before the elections in September.

Daimler accused of selling over 1 million cars with excess emissions, report says
http://europe.autonews.com/article/2017 ... -emissions
BERLIN -- Daimler AG has been accused of selling over a million cars with excessive emissions in Europe and the U.S., Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper said on Wednesday, citing a search warrant issued by a Stuttgart court.
Two months ago Stuttgart prosecutors searched Daimler sites in Germany following allegations of false advertising and the possible wrongful manipulation of exhaust gas treatment systems in diesel cars.
The Stuttgart local court's search warrant triggered the searches on May 23, Sueddeutsche Zeitung said.
According to that document, more than 1 million cars with excessive emissions, including various luxury Mercedes-Benz models, were sold in Europe and the U.S. between 2008 and 2016, said Sueddeutsche Zeitung, which researched the matter with regional broadcasters WDR and NDR.
A Daimler spokesman declined to comment on the continuing investigation by local prosecutors, adding the carmaker was fully cooperating with the authorities.
The cars in question are powered by engines codenamed OM 642 and OM 651, with prosecutors examining the possible use of defeat devices to manipulate emission levels during tests, the newspaper said.
There is a risk that the vehicles affected in Europe could be banned in the region, the newspaper said, again citing the search warrant.
The Daimler spokesman declined to comment on the report, describing it as "speculation," apart from saying the company did not see any danger of its cars being banned.
A spokesman for Stuttgart prosecutors declined to comment while Germany's transport ministry couldn't be reached for comment.
Carmakers across the globe have faced increased regulatory scrutiny over anti-pollution tests since Volkswagen admitted in September 2015 that it had installed secret software in its diesel cars in the United States to cheat nitrogen oxide emission tests.

Povodom optužbi upućenih PSA grupaciji, u vezi prekomerne emisije gasova.
Groupe PSA denies any fraud strategy and strongly reaffirms its technological choices
http://markets.businessinsider.com/news ... 1002353333
In response to press reports today, Groupe PSA indicates that it has not been contacted by
the judicial authorities. The group is outraged to learn that information has been provided to
third parties whereas Groupe PSA has never had access to the file submitted by the DGCCRF
to the public prosecutor's office, making it impossible for the group to put forward its arguments.
Groupe PSA has repeatedly explained its strategy regarding engine settings. This strategy is
based on its customers’ use in real life. It favors low nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in cities
while ensuring the best NOx/ CO2balance on open roads.
This situation undermines the group’s reputation and the interests of its 210,000 employees,
its customers and its partners. Groupe PSA reserves the right to file a complaint for breach of
confidentiality of the investigation and the authorities’ confidentiality obligation.
Groupe PSA reaffirms that:
• It complies with regulations in every country where it operates and its vehicles have
never been equipped with software or systems making it possible to detect compliance
tests and to activate a pollutant treatment device that would be inactive during customer
use.
• It is the only car manufacturer in the world to have put in place a total transparency
approach regarding the consumption and CO2emissions of its models in real use
conditions. This approach will be extended to NOx emissions by the end of 2017. The
results of the 400 measures covering 60 models (80% of European sales)
