Mislim da je u ovoj poslednjoj trci Ferrari napravio najveću grešku što nisu pustili Pereza da ih obiđe ranije.
Ne shvatam baš zašto je Vetel kažnjen, no na kraju se ispostavilo da nije ni bitno.

Sid Watkins dies at age of 84

Professor Sid Watkins, former Formula 1 Medical Delegate, has passed away at the age of 84. A renowned neurosurgeon, the Englishman played a vital role in increasing motorsport safety and saving numerous drivers’ lives.

Watkins began his motorsport career in the early 1960s and was offered a job by Bernie Ecclestone. He was instrumental in driver rescue and recoveries following accidents, such as the serious incidents of Didier Pironi in 1982, Martin Donnelly in 1990, Karl Wendlinger in 1994 and Mika Häkkinen in 1995. Hailing from Liverpool, Watkins was a close friend of Ayrton Senna whose life he attempted to save when the Brazilian had suffered fatal injuries at Imola in 1994.

Watkins announced his full-time retirement in January 2005 and was replaced by long-time deputy and current FIA head doctor Gary Hartstein. He received the Mario Andretti Award for Medical Excellence in 1996 and was made an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2002. He remained as President of the FIA Institute until 8 December 2011, when he elected to step down.

Hamilton prelomio: postaje novi vozač Mercedesa!

Britanski vozač Luis Hamilton trebalo bi na kraju sezone Formule 1 da napusti Meklaren i postane novi pilot Mercedesa.

Direktor Mercedesa Ros Bron je najavio kako nije siguran da će legendarni Mihael Šumaher i naredne sezone biti za volanom njihovog bolida, što se poklapa sa ambicijama da dovedu Hamiltona.

Dogovor sa britanski vozačem bi, prema pisanju BBC, trebalo da bude postignut u toku današnjeg dana. On će biti bez sumnje prvi vozač, a klupski drug će mu biti Niko Rozberg.

Hamiltonu će plata u novom timu biti znatno veća od one koju mu je Meklaren ponudio za produženje ugovora, a imaće i pozamašan prihod od ličnih sponzorskih ugovora.

Ostaje nejasno da li će Šumaher ponovo otići u penziju ili će još koju godinu voziti u najbržem cirkusu na svetu.

Na drugoj strani, kao zamenu za Hamiltona u Meklarenu vide Serhija Pereza, koji je iznenadio dobrim vožnjama u Zauberu ove sezone.


Perez replaces Hamilton at McLaren
Lewis Hamilton is set to move to Mercedes after McLaren announced that Sergio Perez will join Jenson Button at the Woking outfit from next season.

Hamilton is expected to be announced as a Mercedes driver later this morning, meaning Michael Schumacher will be sent back into retirement.

British newspapers said the announcement would come when the Mercedes board had signed a new commercial agreement committing the German car maker to the sport's long-term future.

Mexican Perez, 22, has signed a "multi-year deal" with the Woking marque.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh stated: “[Perez's] performances throughout 2012 have convinced us that he's an extremely exciting prospect for the future.

"It was a string of giant-killing performances, a trio of podiums and a brilliant fastest lap in this year’s Monaco Grand Prix that showed us that Sergio lacks nothing in terms of speed and commitment. We've been monitoring his progress carefully for some months.

"He's perfectly poised to develop into a world championship challenger. His addition to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team provides us with the perfect two-pronged driver line-up for the new season.

"Finally, it's entirely appropriate that I should take this opportunity to pass on our thanks to Lewis [Hamilton]. He wrote a huge chapter of his life and career with us, and was, and always will be, a fine member of an exclusive club: the McLaren world champions' club.

"It goes without saying that we all wish him well for the future, just as it also goes without saying that we hope and believe that Sergio, too, will become a member of that exclusive club before too long."

Perez said: "I’m thrilled and delighted to have become a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver. The McLaren name is one of the greatest in the history of Formula 1.

"For more than 40 years McLaren has been a team that every racing driver has aspired to drive for – I was brought up on the great stories of Ayrton Senna's many world championship triumphs for McLaren – and I'm truly honoured that they've chosen me to partner Jenson from 2013 onwards."

Bild, Germany's best-selling tabloid, said on its website that Mercedes had opted for 2008 world champion Hamilton.

There was no immediate comment from either Mercedes or the Briton.

Hamilton's contract negotiations have been a running saga all season with reports that he was close to a deal with Mercedes emerging early in September.

More recent indications were, however, that the 27-year-old was in favour of staying with McLaren, the team that had nurtured him since he was in his early teens and that handed him his Formula One debut in 2007.

The Daily Telegraph said championship contenders McLaren were understood to have been informed of the driver's decision only on Thursday.

The Daily Mail added that Hamilton would be accepting a three-year contract, including win bonuses, worth £60m with a basic annual salary of around £15m.

Mercedes had made no secret of their desire to sign Hamilton in place of seven-times champion Schumacher, the sport's most successful driver, whose return to the sport after retiring from Ferrari in 2006 has been unremarkable.

Schumacher has been on the podium just once since he began his comeback in 2010 and has retired from half of the 14 races this season.

Mercedes took over champions Brawn GP at the end of 2009 but have had only one victory - Nico Rosberg's success in this year's Chinese Grand Prix - to celebrate.

While that was the first by a works Mercedes since 1955, McLaren are regular challengers for the title and have won five times this year - three of them provided by Hamilton.

On paper, Hamilton would be swapping a place with proven winners for a British-based team with little success but plenty of potential. Mercedes also make the engines used by McLaren and have a substantial development budget.

Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn has a highly impressive track record after multiple championships as technical director at Benetton and Ferrari and boss of the Brawn team he saved after previous owners Honda pulled out in late 2008.

A move to Mercedes would reunite Hamilton, whose management company XIX Entertainment also look after the business affairs of former England captain David Beckham and tennis player Andy Murray, with former karting team mate and friend Rosberg.
