McLaren offers a new battery for the P1 , which costs 137,000 euros. The new battery weighs 56 kg less than the original battery, which weighs 106 kg, which means that the new battery weighs only 50 kg.
This weight reduction has multiple performance benefits, improving the car's acceleration and handling. The battery is smaller in size and thus reduces the electric autonomy of the model from 12 km to just 3, with McLaren saying that the recharging rate has been improved through braking.
Due to the reduced weight, the acceleration time at 0-300 km / h is improved by 0.4 seconds, to 16.1 seconds, with McLaren claiming that the battery is plug and play and only software update is required. It takes 14 working hours to replace it and is covered by a new 6-year warranty. The battery will be available from next July and is also compatible with the P1 GTR.
