Lamborghini SUV privately previewed in New York - details divulged



Select Lamborghini clientele were invited to a special preview event in New York recently to guage reaction of a potential new third model. Unable to keep quiet, extensive details have spilled out via social media.

Described by one of the pre-show guests, Bryan Salamone, as a Cherry Red 4x4, the vehicle is on its way to Beijing for its world premiere at Auto China late next month.

Further details divulged by another pre-show guest, Ed Bolian, on his personal blog are more forthcoming. Unfortunately, the page has since been removed, but not before the key details could be harvested.

Bolian states the Lamborghini SUV has a body silhouette that is similar to the BMW X6. In fact, the unofficial renderings published by Quattroroute magazine (images attached) show this quite well, although there are many details that are different. Overall size is the same size as the Audi Q7 which raises the question if its based on VW Group PL71 SUV platform. Previous reports have said the SUV will use a modified version the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg platform.

The SUV is very muscular and has a somewhat high ride height although the carbon fiber body kit makes it appear closer to the ground. Full LED headlights define the Estoque like front end while the rear end displays four trapezoidal exhaust tips which are integrated flush with the rear bumper diffuser. Side mirrors incorporate some kind of video camera system.

Wheels are 24-inches in diameter and incorporate a carbon fiber design similar to the Aventador J but still an all-new design never seen before. Brakes are naturally carbon-ceramic.

Inside, the four seats are similar to those seen in the Sesto Elemento concept and the cabin is bisected by a high center console that extends between the two rear passengers. Carbon fiber trim abounds.

Spiritually and conceptually, the Lamborghini SUV, rumored to be called the MLC concept, has no relation to the classic LM002 from the late 1980s. No details were given about the powertrain but previous reports say output could be provided by a 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces approximately 584 hp (435 kW / 592 PS).

Lamborghini SUV tajno predstavljen u Njujorku

Odabrana Lamborghinijeva klijentela nedavno je imala priliku da vidi novi Lamborghinijev SUV, koji će zvanično biti predstavljen na Salonu automobila u Pekingu krajem aprila. Nekoliko kolekcionara Lamborghini vozila objavilo je slike onoga što su imali prilike da vide.

Detalje o automobilu prvi je objavio Ed Bolivan, direkor prodaje Lamborghinijevog predstavništva u Atlanti, a zatim i Jalopnik. Nedugo potom oba sajta su uklonila slike, ali su ih u međuvremenu preneli drugi sajtovi, tako da od namere da se sačuva privatnost ovog automobila nema ništa.

Dakle, šta je to što ćemo videti u Pekingu krajem meseca? Automobil predstavljen u Njujorku prisutni su opisivali kao ”višnja-crven”. Silueta je vrlo slična BMW X6 automobilu, ali mu je veličina približnija onoj koju ima i Audi Q7. Reč je o potpuno drugačijem off-road vozilu u odnosu na LM002, mada i ono ima visoko odstrojanje od tla i muževan izgled.

Lambov SUV ima 24-inčne točkove od karbonskih vlakana koji skrivaju karbon-keramičke kočione diskove. Ispod difuzora nalaze se četvorostruke izduvne cevi i kamere umesto retrovizora, ali taj detalj će ostati samo na konceptu; u proizvodnoj verziji se najverovatnije neće naći.

Ovo vozilo ima četiri sedišta koja su inspirisana sedištima iz Sesto Elemento koncepta predstavljenog na Salonu automobila u Parizu 2010. godine. U kabini ima mnoštvo obloga od karbonskih vlakana, a visoka centralna konzola nastavlja se između dva prednja sedišta. Sve ove informacije izneli su ljudi koji su videli koncept, i to nije kraj listi njihovih utisaka.

Lamborghini SUV, koji će se možda zvati MLC Concept, dobiće novu ”MLB” arhitekturu kakvu će imati i naredni Audi Q7. Reč je o konstrukciji od karbonskih vlakana i aluminijuma kako bi se težina smanjila što je više moguće.

Ispod haube ovog koncepta nalazi se V10 motor iz Gallarda koji ima 575 KS, prenosi magazin. Druge pogonske jedinice kao što je twin-turbo V8 ili hibridni pogon takođe se razmatraju. Ipak, šef Lamborghinija je za ”Autocar” potvrdio da se ova kompanija najverovatnije neće okrenuti tehnologiji turbopunjenja u ovoj deceniji, ali nije precizirao šta će biti u dužem vremenskom periodu od tog.

Lamborghini SUV Coming in 2017

The Lamborghini SUV has been in the spotlights for quite a while now, but the question that is on everybody’s lips is related to the model’s market launch date.

It seems that the Raging Bull has finally decided to offer us a hint, with company CEO Stephan Winkelmann telling Handelsblatt that the carmaker needs a third model and the SUV will probably receive the green light later this year.

The carmaker is aware of the fact that there are many customers who need a car they can use everyday and this is why it wants to put the SUV into production. The CEO subsequently explained: “It usually takes 48 months until an all-new vehicle arrives at dealers, so the new Lamborghini would not be available to buy before 2017."

I saw the SUV in NY. Can't say too much since I signed an NDA but I am sure other will blurt it all out. I was a skeptic but after seeing this and what they want to do and how they will position this, it makes sense. The ride is bad ass... I hope they keep it as is. Its SICK!
