Suzuki ne može da isprati potražnju za Jimny
Potražnja za malim terencem je tolika da japanski proizvođač ne uspeva da odgovori na zahteve kupaca.
Zbog ogromne potražnje u Japanu, Suzuki ima problema da isporuči Jimny za ostala tržišta sa volanom desnoj strani, kao što je Engleska.
Suzuki ima čak 4.500 rezervisanih jedinica samo za tržište Velike Britanije, a može da isporuči tek 1.100 do kraja godine.
Biće onih koji ga neće dočekati ni 2019, jer Suzuki može da isporuči samo 2.000 jedinica godišnje bez promene proizvodnog procesa.
Kupci u Japanu, gde Jimny dolazi sa trocilindarskim turboagregatom od svega 658cc sa 64 KS i 96 Nm mogu da biraju između petostepenog manuelnog i četvorostepenog automatsko menjača.
Dvobrzinski reduktor i pogon na sva četiri točka omogućavaju malenom SUV-u terenske sposobnosti zbog kojih je i postao popularan.
Međutim, drugačija pravila donose drugačiji Jimny u Evropu, a on pod haubom ima 1,5-litarski atmosferski četvorocilindraš sa 100 KS i 130 Nm.
Kao i u Japanu kupci biraju između petostepenog manuelnog i četvorostepenog automatsko menjača, a i na "Stari kontinent" Jimny stiže sa paketom za terensku vožnju koji je opisan kao "apsolutno fantastičan" za zahtevne terene.
Jedina mana novog Jimnyja su loši rezultati na testovima bezbednosti, dobio je samo tri zvezdice na Euro NCAP testu.

Da bi bilo jasnije zasto je Jimny takav kakav jeste i zasto ga je besmisleno porediti sa vecim terencima ili “zahtevati” od proizvodjaca da ga “malkice poveca”, treba pogledati u istoriju. Dzimnijev “deda” LJ10 je započeo kao proizvod kompanije Hope, a Suzuki je otkupio firmu za proizvodnju automobila poznatu pod nazivom Hope Star 1968. godine. Na modelu zacetom 1970. godine, Suzuki je zamenio originalni Mitsubishi motor sopstvenim pogonom. Mali, vazduhom hlađen 359cc dvotaktni dvocilindras, imao je samo 24 ks. Ovakav motor je omogucio da se LJ10 kvalifikuje kao “kei” automobil u Japanu kako bi iskoristio niže poreze. Rezultat je bilo vozilo poput skracenog Jeepa i još uvek sa velikom off-road sposobnosti zahvaljujući pogonu na četiri točka i tezini praznog vozila oko 585 kg.

Koliko znam, i ovaj model u Japanu ima motor od 649ccm i klasifikuje se kao KEI car.

Some Suzuki dealers have stopped taking deposits for the new 4x4, with a factory bottleneck blamed
The wait time for Suzuki’s popular new Jimny off-roader has stretched to a year in the UK due to restricted supply, the company has told Autocar.
Demand has been so strong for the 1200 cars Suzuki UK has been allocated for 2019 that some dealers are no longer taking deposits, but are instead registering ‘expressions of interest’.
Suzuki UK says the bottleneck is at its factory in Kosai, Japan, where the Jimny is built for local and global markets. Japanese demand is also strong due to the fact that without its wheel arch extensions, the Jimny is narrow enough to satisfy the low-tax Kei car rules.
However Suzuki is reportedly also restricting sales in Europe because it doesn’t want to push up its average CO2 levels, according to a UK dealer posting on PistonHeads this week. He was responding to a customer who had heard a similar story from their Suzuki dealer.
The Jimny’s relative poor fuel economy means it emits high CO2 levels of between 154g/km and 170g/km depending on whether it’s the 1.3-litre or the 1.5-litre, or fitted with a manual or automatic gearbox.
Too many Jimny sales compared to the more frugal Ignis or Swift models will push up Suzuki’s average CO2, leading to fines from the European Union if it goes above its target. Suzuki has a bespoke agreement similar to that of Jaguar Land Rover, meaning it’s target is higher than the 95g/km fleet average set for 2020/21, but the maker can’t currently call upon electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles to compensate for its petrol-only sales.
Suzuki decided not to offer the Jimny with its lower-CO2 Boosterjet 1.0-litre turbo engine or the expensive mild-hybrid SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system that cuts CO2 for the Baleno supermini to 94g/km.
Theoretically then, the UK could see a greater allocation of cars if we no longer choose to participate in the EU’s scheme to reduce CO2 from new cars after we leave the trading bloc.
Suzuki has said it will increase the UK allocation of cars to 2000 for 2020, either because it’s planning to fit more frugal engines or it because it will build the car at a second plant, possibly in India. The first customer Suzuki Jimnys will be delivered to the UK in January.
