[UPDATE]: Former Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has been confirmed as the new CEO of Lamborghini. Domenicali (50) will take up his new position in the Volkswagen Group-owned company on March 15.
Volkswagen Group has selected Stephan Winkelmann as a new chief executive officer of Quattro GmbH.

As of March 15 this year, Winkelmann will be effectively the new CEO of the company which is a subsidiary of Audi AG and produces the high-performance R and RS models of the brand. He succeeds Heinz Hollerweger, who is retiring after almost 40 years of “successful work” for Audi.
“With his experience from more than eleven years in charge of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann will be a key contributor to the further growth of Quattro GmbH,” Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management of Audi AG, commented.
Since 2005 Winkelmann is CEO of Lamborghini and was responsible for “substantial investment in the future of the company.” 2015 was a record year for the manufacturer with deliveries of 3,245 units worldwide.
Born in Berlin on October 18, 1964, Stephan Winkelmann started his professional career in 1991 at the German financial institution MLP. Shortly after, he moved to the automotive industry and joined Mercedes-Benz. In 1994 he was hired by Fiat, where he was the board of management chairman of Fiat Auto Austria, Switzerland and Germany. On January 1 2005 he was appointed president and CEO of Lamborghini.
