Saab owners get a lifeline, Saab Automobile Parts AB head to U.S.

Could benefit 500,000 owners in North America

If your one the of thousands of disheartened Saab owners in the United States or Canada, you'll be glad to know that Saab Automobile Parts AB has announced plans to setup a new subsidiary in Michigan.
The company, called North America Distribution Services Inc, will supply genuine replacement parts, technical support and "other services" throughout the region. While Saab Automobile Parts was unaffected by Saab's bankruptcy, they have managed to sign agreements to acquire a large number components and gain access to Saab's body shop to manufacture replacement body parts.
In a statement, Saab Automobile Parts CEO Lennart Ståhl said "Today there are around half a million Saab cars on the roads in North America - the largest fleet of Saabs in one single market in the world. Our establishment in North America will secure support to Saab owners in the USA and Canada and ensure they have access to Saab Genuine Parts, service programs and technical support."

Saab bought by National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB - report

Swedish media reports are indicating Saab has been bought by National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS).
The consortium, that is jointly-owned by China's National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd and Japan's Sun Investment LLC, reportedly submitted a definitive offer on April 7 and was recently selected as the preferred buyer.
While the information is hard to verify, a posting on NEVS' website read "Saab Automobile, Trollhättan and Sweden stands for innovation and technology excellence. At Saab Automobile, the engagement for future transportation solutions is pervasive." This seems to give credence to the reports, but nothing is official as of yet.
Regardless, there have been rumors that NEVS submitted a bid of approximately 1.5-1.8 billion kronor ($209-251 / €168-201 million).

Priča oko Saaba nikako da se konačno završi. Brojni pokušaji spašavanja ovog brenda i brojni neuspesi zabavljali su nas proteklih godinu dana. Nakon nekoliko meseci zatišja Saab je ponovo vest i to zahvaljujući informaciji koja kaže da je ovaj švedski brend konačno prodat.

Ako je verovati pisanju jednog lokalnog švedskog portala, Saab je prodat firmi “National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB” koju su u švedskoj osnovali japanski investicioni fond i firma iz Hong Konga specijalizovana za alternativne izvore energije. Ta firma je za Saab predala ponudu još pre 7. aprila do kada je bio postavljen rok za preuzimanje Saaba.

Cela stvar u javnost je došla preko gradskih čelnika Trollhättana kojima se omaklo da će ceo posao biti završen sledeće nedelje kada sledi potpisivanje ugovora. Gradska vlast ubrzo je negirala sve tvrdeći da su informacije pogrešno interpretirane. Da li je Saab zaista prešao u ruke novog vlasnika saznaćemo sledeće nedelje kada bi ceo posao trebalo da bude finalizovan.

Bankrupt carmaker Saab finds a buyer

Bankrupt Swedish carmaker Saab on Wednesday seemed to have been rescued from insolvency as the administrators for the almost seven-decade old brand said they had found it a buyer.

STOCKHOLM — Bankrupt Swedish carmaker Saab on Wednesday seemed to have been rescued from insolvency as the administrators for the almost seven-decade old brand said they had found it a buyer.

The new owner, who was not named, will be presented at a news conference later Wednesday, the administrators said in a brief statement. It was not immediately clear whether the estate will be divested as a whole, including the subsidiaries Saab Tools and Saab Powertrain, or whether it will be sold in parts.

Saab, which has more than 3,000 workers, filed for bankruptcy in December last year after its previous owner, the Dutch luxury car group Spyker — later named Swedish Automobile — failed to get backing for the brand.

Early last year, it became clear that Saab had failed to pay its suppliers. Production was stopped in March 2011, then restarted, and later halted again as the liquidity crisis deepened. Saab’s car manufacturing plant in the small city of Trollhattan in western Sweden has been idle since then.

In recent months, a handful of suitors have made bids for Saab, but as discussions neared closure earlier this month, rumours swirled that a Swedish electric car consortium, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, would become the potential new owner. Neither the trustees nor spokespeople representing NEVS have confirmed the speculation.

In April, a summary of Saab’s balance sheet showed the company has debts of 13 billion kronor ($1.9 billion) and assets of around 3.6 billion kronor ($532 million).

The debts included claims of 2.2 billion kronor from the Swedish state, 606 million kronor from former owner General Motors Corp. and 513 million kronor from former employees.

Saab also owes GM 2.2 billion kronor it paid for preferential shares but the American automotive company would only be entitled to that if the bankruptcy produced a surplus, the trustees said.

Trustees have said that mainly preferential creditors, or those who hold securities for their claims, will receive money.

Originally an aircraft maker, Saab entered into the auto market after World War II with the first production of the two-stroke-engine Saab 92. It soon became a household name in Sweden and in the 1970s it released its first turbocharged model — the landmark Saab 99.

To auto enthusiasts, Saab was known for its quirks, such as placing the ignition lock between the front seats and becoming the first car to have heated seating in 1971.

GM bought a 50 per cent stake and management control of Saab in 1989, and gained full ownership in 2000. The aircraft and defence company with the same name remained an independent entity, building fighter jets and weapons systems.

Saab Automobile’s sales peaked at 133,000 cars in 2006. After that, sales dwindled to 93,000 cars in 2008 and just 27,000 in 2009, as GM — itself in bankruptcy protection following the financial crisis — prepared to wind down the Swedish brand.


SAAB se "izvlači" iz bankrota i ima novog vlasnika

BBC javlja da je švedski proizvođač automobila SAAB našao kupca. Iako će se ime novog vlasnika objaviti u sredu, lokalni mediji navode da je su novi vlasnici grupa onvestitora iz Švedske i Kine, mada se špekulše i o jednom japanskom investicionom fondu.

SAAB je bankrotirao 2011, dve godine nakon što ga je Gneral Motors prodao holandskom Spykeru.

Stečajni upravnik SAAB-a izjavio je da ova kompanija ima dugovanja od 13 milijardi kruna.

Kao mogući kupac navodi se National Electric Vehicle Sweden (Nevs) čiji je vlasnik Kinez sa švedskim državljanstvom Kai Johan Jiang, a direktor Karl-Erling Trogen, bivši čelnik Volvo kamiona.
Najgore je svađati se sa budalom. Prvo te spusti na svoj nivo, a onda te dotuče iskustvom...

Saab sold to EV firm



The adminstrator of Saab announced that it has signed an agreement to sell the company to New Energy Vehicle Sweden AB, a new company set up to build EVs. NEVS is 51% owned by Hong Kong company National Modern Energy Holdings and 49% by Japanese investment firm Sun Investment. National Modern Energy Holdings' main business is biofuel fuel production. It owns 28 such plants in China.

According to the announcement, NEVS will take over Saab's HQ, production and R&D facility in Trollhattan, the intellectual properties of 9-3 and the Phoenix platform under development. It won't get 9-5 and 9-4X, however, because their rights are owned by GM. The company plans to hire 200 engineers at Sweden to develop electric vehicles, primarily targetting at China market. The first car could be built on the 9-3 ePower pictured above. That car was unveiled in the 2010 Paris motor show. It was powered by a front-mounted 184 hp electric motor, supplied by a 35.5kWh Li-ion battery located in the space originally occupied by exhaust system and fuel tank. It had a regulated top speed of 93 mph and 0-60 mph was claimed to take 8 seconds.

The price of the takeover was not disclosed, but the new buyer agreed to take over all the debts of Saab amounted to US$1.8 billion.

The use of the Saab brand still needs the approval of the defence company using the same name. Even if it can get the name, the new Saab will not be the same Saab that we used to know. It will be much downsized and operate purely as a niche EV maker.

Another batch of Saabs up for auction

Another auction consisting of the last cars built by Saab will take place between March 19 and April 3.
This is probably the final chance to purchase a theoretically brand new Saab as the last 78 cars will be auctioned; including 31 units of the 9-4X (only 700 were ever made). Also available will be seven 9-5 SportKombi (30 made) and 37 2012MY 9-5 (54 made). Also for sale is the last 9-3X ever made, a 9-5 SportSedan TiD6 (Alpha) 2.9 superdiesel and one of the three 9-3 SportSedan with Skyblue paint.
All cars will be exhibited at Wallhamn located a few kilometers north of Gothenburg, Sweden. The auction was commissioned by the automaker's receivers in bankruptcy and all cars will be sold individually.

Ja bi rekao da je jedan od derivata JTD familije.

Manje motore su koristili.

Tamo negde 2007, mislim da je Cadillac predstavio 2.9L dizel, slicnih (ili istih performansi).
Tako da je sasvim moguce da je GM proizvod.

Moguce. Mada i GM je u dosta modela ugradjivao svoju JTD varijaciju sa oznakama CDTI, TiD i TTiD

Ima dobrih autica na ovoj aukciji( posebno aero modeli)

A ni ovaj 9x-4 nije uopste los.
