- the new E-Class will premiere the new OM654 2.0-litre diesel engines which replace the outgoing OM651 series
- the "großer" OM656 3.0-litre diesel engines will first debut on the S-Class model year 2017 and then will also become available for the new E-Class
- the W 213 will be available with a wide choice of powerplants:
E 200 d with 150 hp (increase of 14 hp over the E 200 BlueTEC), new OM654 engine
E 220 d with 194 hp (increase of 24 hp over the E 220 BlueTEC), new OM654 engine
E 250 d/E 300 d (??) with 231 hp (increase of 27 hp over the E 250 BlueTEC), new OM654 engine
E 350 d with 265 hp (??) (increase of 7 hp over the E 350 BlueTEC), OM642 engine
E 250 with 211 hp
E 300 with 245 hp
E 400 with 333 hp
E 450 AMG 4MATIC with 367 hp
- the E 350 e and the E 500 versions will follow later
Georg Kacher writes it's surely the most intelligent limousine in the world. He didn't drive it, only passenger.
- 7 weeks ahead of production start Mercedes is still developing like crazy. New software after this drive.

- Georg Kacher drove E400 and E300 (specifically modified 2L for US)
- 2L engine is very good. Completely capable of propelling the E-class and being very fuel efficient.
- 3L engine is powerful and sounds great. All anyone really needs.
- Engines can only be heard during acceleration. When driving it is impossible to hear them. Georg says he could mistake to be driven in a Tesla in any situation but hard acceleration (only without cracks and creaks haha).
- Quietest car he has ever driven in, including Tesla.
- one base, two hi-fi systems. Both sound great.
- Suspension is very comfortable. No experiments here with set up and architecture. Car is much more agile than previous generation. Comfort is unbelievable. Shocks, bumps, uneven surfaces do not make it into cabin. It is an event to be driven in it.
- The design is very good in person. Catwalk line looks great.
- Two fronts available. Sport with star in the middle a la SL. Luxury with classic star as ornament.
- The interior is futuristic and very well made and designed. Better looking than S-class.
- Instrument cluster in 3D look and highly customizable.
Conclusion:
The e-class is much more modern than S-class and much more relaxed than C-class.
