Sony tests the electric Vision-S on the streets of Austria
In early 2020, Sony surprised everyone with the introduction of the Vision-S, and although the company made it clear that it did not intend to put it into production, last summer the Japanese company announced that the prototype would be tested in public.
That's what happened, with Sony announcing that it started testing its electric prototype in Europe in December and shared a video of the car moving on scenic Austrian roads. The video was taken by the company's recently announced drone, Airpeak, which is expected to be available next spring.
The prototype is an electric sedan, equipped with 33 sensors that analyze the environment and can detect and recognize people and objects inside and outside the car and provide "extremely advanced driving support". Also, instead of side mirrors it has cameras, while inside we find four independent seats and a large glass roof.
It is powered by two 268 hp electric motors that allow the model to do 0-100 km / h in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km / h. It is built on a new platform developed by Magna Steyr, with Sony stating that the platform is also suitable for hosting SUV models.
Vision-S is the platform with which Sony presents the car technologies it offers, as the company has made it clear that it will not become a car manufacturer . Instead, he describes the concept as Sony's contribution to the evolution of cars.
