Kimi Raikkonen number 7 for 2014 Formula 1 season

Drivers are spending the last days before Christmas coming up with the numbers they will carry for the rest of their formula one careers.

After the FIA kicked off the selection process, telling drivers they should name their top three picks between 2-99, it has already emerged that Force India's Sergio Perez has plumped for number 11.

It is believed Fernando Alonso considers 14 to be his lucky number, Jean-Eric Vergne wants the iconic 27, and Nico Rosberg has asked to carry number 6, which was raced to the 1982 title by his father Keke.

Now, adding the hashtag 'Bo77as', Williams driver Valtteri Bottas has told his 49,000 followers on Twitter that he has put down 77 as his first choice.

Felipe Massa has nominated the number 19, but others - like new Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo - aren't saying.

"For now I'll keep mine quiet," he said. "(But) it's a beautiful thing F1 drivers will have freedom to choose what number they want to race from next year."

His replacement at Toro Rosso, Daniil Kvyat, admitted: "I have been thinking all night long about my number."

And Lotus' Romain Grosjean added: "My 3 favourites sent to the FIA, but will keep it secret for now."

Finland's Ilta-Sanomat newspaper said Kimi Raikkonen has picked the number 7 to wear on his helmet and Ferrari next year.

Company offers up a $1.6 million LaFerrari for championship

AUTOWEEK - This is the car Ferrari will give Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen if they win the Formula One championship.

Prestige isn’t the only thing Ferrari Formula One drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen will get if they win the F1 drivers’ title.

Ferrari, which hasn’t won a drivers’ championship since Räikkönen won in 2007, has promised the drivers a rare LaFerrari supercar if they win.

The LaFerrari was launched earlier this year and has a top speed of 220 mph and a price tag of $1.6 million.

There were only 499 of the cars made, and Alonso helped test it and contributed to the engineering (check out the video below of Alonso testing the car at Ferrari’s home track at Maranello this summer).

So how do you get your hands on a LaFerrari if you aren’t competing for an F1 championship? Well, that might be difficult. Ferrari president Luca di Motezemolo specifically handpicks who gets the chance to buy one. In order to even be considered, you have to already own five Ferraris.

Još je ostalo nešto više od mjesec dana do prvih predsezonskih testiranja, a Caterham trenutno nema niti jednog potvrđenog vozača. Charles Pic, koji je ove godine vozio za njih, kaže kako nije siguran za svoje mjesto u momčadi za sljedeću sezonu, a tvrdi da je Van Der Garde u mnogo boljoj financijskoj situaciji.

“Situacija je neizvjesna jer male momčadi čekaju odluke većih. Volio bih ostati u Caterhamu, ali u Formuli 1 nikad ne možete biti sigurni. Kako se sezona bližila kraju, moglo se vidjeti da u Caterhamu nisu bili problem vozači, već financije. No, ipak sam optimist. Caterhamu i meni je potrebna stabilnost.”

S druge strane, Kamui Kobayashi, koji je krajem 2012. izgubio mjesto na gridu, očito još uvijek traži momčad. Prošle godine mu “izgon” iz Formule 1 nije dobro sjeo, te se Japanac svim silama želi vratiti u nju. Jučer je viđen u Caterhamovoj tvornici u Velikoj Britaniji, što nužno ne mora ništa značiti, ali mogućnost povratka zasigurno postoji.
