2013 Renault Clio RS version spotted at the factory
The 2013 Renault Clio RS 200 has been spotted at Renault’s Alpine factory in Dieppe, France. These pictures were shot a month ago when the trial production of the Clio RS began.
According to auto-mag.info where these images have been uploaded to, the first 134 cars that roll out of the assembly line will be reserved for journalists. About 25 examples of this racy Clio variant are being produced daily. Around 300 people work in this factory to make this car. Bookings and deliveries for the Clio RS could begin in mid-February.
Firsts on the fourth generation Clio RS are the five door body style and the inclusion of an automatic transmission featuring a dual clutch, operated via paddles.
A turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox develops 197 bhp and 234 Nm on the Clio RS. Renault calls the dual clutch as EDC – Efficient Dual Clutch – which when in Race mode shifts the gear in 150 milliseconds. An optional Launch Control system will also be offered on the new version.
The hot hatch is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, with the 18 inchers offered as an option.
On the cosmetic front, the Clio RS differentiates itself from the regular variants with an F1-style blade, a spoiler and rear diffuser, LED daytime running slights, new bumpers and sill extensions.
The cabin features red-trimmed bucket seats that can be covered in leather. A start-stop button, keyless entry, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, touchscreen navigation and a new infotainment system are part of the package, while parking sensors and an electronic climate control system are optional.
