Jedno je za Koncepte koji sad izlaze po sajmovima a drugo je za automobile koji su bili planirani da se proizvode ali nikad nisu ...

Audi Reveals TT Ultra Quattro


Every year the Volkswagen Group descends upon the Austrian lakeside town of Worthersee for a gathering of the company’s most faithful fans that has turned into an internal auto show of its own. This year’s assembly is coming up next month, and Audi is the first to reveal what it has in store. The Audi TT Ultra Quattro is a lightweight, racing-inspired concept. Based on the TT S, it previews some of the technologies being developed for the next-gen TT that’s due to arrive next year.

Power comes from a returned version of Audi’s 2.0-liter turbo four, boosted by 38 horsepower to 306. Power is transmitted to all four wheels though a six-speed manual to reach 62 mph from a standstill in 4.2 seconds and a 174mph top speed. That’s 0.7 seconds quicker and 19 mph faster than the existing Audi TT S Quattro, enabled not only by the extra power, but also by reduced weight. Using a revised version of the TT’s aluminum spaceframe, the Ultra Quattro employs carbon fiber and magnesium to cut nearly 300 kg off the curb weight to bring it down to just 1,111 kilos. It also employs carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust, carbon and aluminum wheels, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, revised suspension components, the fiberglass seat shells from the R8 GT and a rearview camera system instead replacing the mirror like the R18 Le Mans prototype. But rather than strip the interior, Audi has retained the leather trim, air-con, electric windows and more. Although strictly a concept for the time being, Audi has hinted that it could build a limited run of the lightweight coupe if there’s enough demand.
