Renault: Nismo varali na testu emisija štetnih gasova

Francuski proizvođač odbacio je tvrdnje nemačke organizacija za zaštitu životne sredine (DUH) da njegov model Espace 1.6 dCi emituje i do 25 puta više azotnih oksida (NOx) od aktuelne Euro 6 granice za te gasove.

U kratkom saopštenju Renault kaže da procedure koje je koristio Univerzitet u Bernu "nisu u skladu sa evropskim propisima".

Kompanija tvrdi da je Espace sa 1.6 litarskim dizel motorom projektovan prema svim važećim regulativama i dodaje da će analizirati testove na koje se poziva DUH.

Renault navodi da su rezultati koje je objavila nemačka organizacija za zaštitu životne sredine "neverovatni" i poziva se na nezavisne testove modela Espace koje je u avgustu sproveo najveći evropski auto-klub, nemački ADAC.

ADAC je tada zaključio da ovaj automobil zadovoljava propisane norme o emisijama štetnih gasova.

DUH je ranije izneo slične tvrdnje i za model Opel Zafira 1.6 CDTi, ali ih je nemački proizvođač ubrzo opovrgao tako što je sproveo testove emisije izduvnih gasova koji odgovaraju realnim uslovima vožnje, u prisustvu nezavisne organizacije.

Nakon toga, Opel je optužuio DUH da je izneo u javnost "lažne i neosnovane podatke".

VW reveals fix for some vehicles with NOx cheat device

VW has issued further details about the fixes it intends to apply to diesel vehicles in Europe fitted with ‘defeat devices’ to cheat emissions tests.

Vehicles with the 1.6-litre EA 189 engine will be given a software update and fitted with a ‘flow transformer’ - a mesh to calm swirled air flow - in front of the air mass sensor, said VW in a statement issued today.

This should “decisively improve” the measuring accuracy of the sensor, which supplies information on air mass throughput that is used by the engine management system to calculate an optimum combustion process. The fix can be applied in less than one hour, said VW.

Vehicles with the 2.0-litre EA 189 engine will require only a software update, which should take around half an hour, added VW.

Both fixes have now been approved by the Federal Motor Transport Authority, it said.

A further fix for affected 1.2-litre diesel engines – expected to be software-only - will be presented to the German authorities at the end of this month, promised VW.

The German vehicle manufacturer said it remained its 'target' to achieve a fix without any adverse effects on engine output, fuel consumption or performance, but admitted that “as all model variants first have to be measured, the achievement of these targets cannot yet be finally confirmed”.

VW vehicle owners, including the owners of some 79,000 commercial vehicles in the UK, have been waiting since the scandal broke in mid-September to find out in any detail what VW intends to do about affected vehicles and what the implications for fuel consumption might be.

Nekatuelno skroz, aktuelni su azotni oksidi.

Manje CO2 = manja potrošnja goriva, ali više NOx.

Trgovina je između NOx i CO2, i naći nekako odgovarajući balans.

Upravo to, a onda uskace hemijska obrada izduvnih gasova oksido redukcionim procesima. A to kosta i nije uvek efikasno jer nisu kontrolisani uslovi hem. reakcije pre svega stabilne temperature.
Svi hemijski procesi dosta zavise od temperature na kojoj se odvijaju a u automobilima jos ne postoji sistem termostatske regulacije temperature gasova a i nece skoro s obzirom na toliko razlicite uslove upotrebe auta tokom godina i u klimama sirom sveta.

Redukcija azotnih oksida ureom je nesto sto treba ocekivati da sire zxahvati auto industriju, sada su u fokusu dizeli a iste NOX gasove ispustaju i benzinci.

Pa termoelektrane na fosilna goriva, industrija...pa brzi punjaci na fosilna goriva za elektro automobile kakve Tesla koristi npr. koji ispustaju NOX.
Auto Tesla kao ne ispusta ali punjac se zaboravi :)

Opel kreće u ofenzivu smanjenja potrošnje goriva i emisija

Opel poduzima još jedan korak da bi zadovoljio buduće smjernice vezane uz emisije štetnih plinova, CO2 i NOx. Naime, od drugog kvartala 2016. uz službene podatke o potrošnji goriva i emisiji CO2 objavljivat će i brojke o potrošnji goriva dobivene u WLTP ciklusu testiranja (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure – svjetski usklađen testni postupak za laka vozila). Uz to, inženjeri zaduženi za dizelske motore nedavno su počeli raditi na inicijativi poboljšanja emisija NOx kod dizelskih motora s tehnologijom SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction – selektivna katalitička redukcija). Ti su rani napori usmjereni praćenju takozvane RDE legislative (Real Driving Emissions – stvarne emisije tijekom vožnje) koja će stupiti na snagu 2017. godine. Opelov je cilj ponuditi transparentnost tijelima koja provode testiranja.


„Događaji i diskusije iz proteklih tjedana i mjeseci pokazali su da je automobilska industrija u iznimnom fokusu i sada je vrijeme da se djeluje na temelju naučenoga“, rekao je glavni izvršni direktor Opel grupe dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann. „Jasno je da je rasprava o dizelskim motorima prekretnica. Svijet više nije kakav je bio. To ne možemo ignorirati – na automobilskoj je industriji da promijeni percepciju nove stvarnosti.“

Potrošnja goriva i CO2

Od drugog kvartala 2016. uz službene podatke o potrošnji goriva i emisijama CO2 Opelovih modela objavljivat će se i brojke o potrošnji goriva dobivene tijekom WLTP testnog ciklusa, i to počevši od nove Astre. Taj je postupak općeprihvaćen u branši i razvijen je s ciljem da točnije prikaže stvarno iskustvo korisnika.

Prema planovima EU-a, „Novi europski vozni krug“ (New European Driving Cycle, NEDC) zamijenit će od početka 2017. moderniji standardni svjetski usklađen testni postupak za laka vozila, WLTP. I taj se postupak provodi u laboratorijskim uvjetima i temelji se na strogim testnim procedurama koje su bliže stvarnim vrijednostima potrošnje goriva i emisije CO2 u cestovnom prometu. Taj novi testni ciklus važan je radi održavanja standardiziranih i usporedivih rezultata koji se mogu ponoviti.

Tehnologija SCR

Opel trenutačno pokreće akciju i u vezi s emisijama NOx. Proizvođač automobila iz Rüsselsheima počeo je raditi na rješenjima za poboljšanje učinkovitosti sustava za tretiranje ispušnih plinova kod dizelskih motora usklađenih sa standardom Euro 6 s tehnologijom SCR kako bi se napredovalo u smjeru budućih RDE (Real Driving Emissions) smjernica. RDE je standard za stvarne emisije tijekom vožnje koji dopunjuje trenutne metode testiranja i mjeri emisije automobila izravno na cesti.

“Naše su analize u proteklih nekoliko mjeseci pokazale da nemamo uređaje koji bi nam rekli jesu li naša vozila u testnom ciklusu. No vjerujemo da možemo dodatno poboljšati učinkovitost redukcije oksida iz dušičnih emisija naših dizelskih motora usklađenih sa standardom Euro 6 i s tehnologijom SCR, pa ih nastojimo unaprijediti prema budućim RDE specifikacijama”, naglasio je dr. Neumann. „Ubuduće ćemo koristiti SCR kao standardni sustav za Euro 6 dizelske motore u našem nastojanju da razvijemo naprednije tehnologije i istražimo veću učinkovitost.“

Rad na ovom poboljšanju SCR-a prema standardu Euro 6 već je počeo i očekujemo implementaciju u proizvodnji od ljeta 2016. Ta će aktivnost obuhvaćati i akciju provjere zadovoljstva korisnika na terenu, koja će uključivati 43 000 automobila koji već voze europskim cestama (Zafira Tourer, Insignia i Cascada). Ta će vozila dobiti novu kalibraciju kad ona postane dostupna.

I glavni izvršni direktor Opela dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann poziva na povećanje transparentnosti između proizvođača automobila i europskih nadzornih tijela. „U SAD-u tvrtke nadzornim tijelima otkrivaju svoju čitavu filozofiju kalibracije. Volio bih da se ta praksa uvede i u Europi.“ U tom kontekstu glavni izvršni direktor Opela želi predložiti i da svi proizvođači automobila aktivni u Europi sudjeluju u ovom verbalnom dogovoru oko veće transparentnosti.

VW sued by US justice department

The US justice department is suing Volkswagen over the emissions scandal that saw the German car giant fit software in millions of cars to cheat emissions tests.

In September last year, following an investigation by US regulators, VW admitted fitting the so-called defeat device on 11 million vehicles globally.

The scandal has hit sales of VWs worldwide.

The company has put aside billions of euros to deal with the fallout.

The lawsuit, on behalf of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), was filed on Monday in a federal court in Detroit, Michigan.

"The complaint alleges that nearly 600,000 diesel engine vehicles had illegal defeat devices installed that impair their emission control systems and cause emissions to exceed EPA's standards, resulting in harmful air pollution," the filing said.

It also alleges that VW "violated" clean air laws by selling cars that were different in design from those originally cleared for sale by the EPA.

"With today's filing, we take an important step to protect public health by seeking to hold Volkswagen accountable for any unlawful air pollution, setting us on a path to resolution," said assistant administrator Cynthia Giles for the EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance.

"So far, recall discussions with the company have not produced an acceptable way forward. These discussions will continue in parallel with the federal court action."

The department said the filing was just the first step in "bringing Volkswagen to justice".

The carmaker is also facing separate criminal charges, and a raft of class-action lawsuits filed by VW owners.
'Screwed up'

The EPA says that VW fitted many of its cars with a device that was able to recognise test conditions and adjust the engine settings accordingly, with the express purpose of giving distorted readings on nitrogen oxide emissions.

The company admitted to "totally screwing up", and there has been a shake-up in the management structure and personnel as a result. Martin Winterkorn resigned as chief executive and was replaced with Matthias Mueller, the former boss of Porsche.

The carmaker is currently conducting an internal investigation that it says will "leave no stone unturned".

The scandal has hit VW hard. It will begin recalling millions of cars worldwide soon, and has set aside €6.7bn (£4.6bn) to cover costs. That resulted in the company posting its first quarterly loss for 15 years, of €2.5bn in late October.

With the lawsuits piling up, experts say the final costs are likely to be much higher than that.

Renault, Ford and Mercedes under scrutiny in French emissions probe

PARIS -- Renault executives will meet French government technical experts to explain why its Captur and two other diesel models have NOx emissions limits far higher than legal limits, a French newspaper reported.

Ford Motor and Mercedes will also come under scrutiny after two of their models also had excessive emissions, Les Echos newspaper reported on Saturday.

Preliminary results from tests ordered by France's energy department indicated that emissions from the Captur SUV, an Espace minivan and an unnamed Renault utility vehicle exceeded limits. The Ford C-Max and Mercedes-Benz S class models that were tested also had emissions much higher than legal limits, although not as much as the Renault models, the paper said.

The government is particularly concerned about the Captur because it is a relatively new model which meets the Euro 6 standard that is supposed to allow only "clean diesels" on the road. The Espace and utility models tested met the Euro 5 standard.

One source told Les Echos that the Captur may have a technical problem in its pollution control system that could lead to a recall.

The Mercedes S class 350 that was examined gave inconsistent results while the Ford C-Max had emissions five times above the allowable limit, the paper said. Technicians tested Euro 6 versions of both cars, it said.


Les Echos said the vehicles underwent three tests: the standard NEDC laboratory examination used to establish whether vehicles meet European limits, plus a road test that is not currently part of the official EU procedure, as well as a test to check whether the vehicle used a defeat device.

Government inspectors plan to examine 100 vehicles and have tested 22 so far, according to Les Echos. The Volkswagen Tiguan and Audi Q3 models that were tested had defeat software while a Peugeot 208, a BMW 3 series and unnamed Toyota showed no particular problems, the paper said.

Renault will be expected to explain to officials at a meeting Monday afternoon why emissions exceeded the limits and how it will correct the problem, Les Echos said. Ford and Mercedes have been asked to explain the results from their vehicles.

France started a probe into diesel cars in September after Volkswagen admitted to rigging emissions tests. France's Energy Minister Segolene Royal said on Thursday there was no sign that Renault had fraudulently concealed emissions with defeat software.

Last week Renault said fraud investigators had inspected three of its sites in an emissions probe, raising the specter of a Volkswagen-type scandal at the French automaker.

The company will present a plan to address the gap between its vehicles’ emissions in real-world and laboratory tests within weeks, the automaker's sales and marketing chief, Thierry Koskas, said Monday at a press conference in Paris. "Renault hasn't cheated," he said.

Renault recalls Captur diesel models to fix emissions glitch

PARIS (Bloomberg) -- Renault is recalling 15,800 Captur SUVs to fix pollution-control systems and will offer voluntary emissions-system updates for about 700,000 vehicles as the automaker seeks to avoid a Volkswagen-type crisis.

The recall will probably be limited to the 110-horsepower diesel version of the Captur subcompact model, the company said.

Renault will also offer an engine software patch to owners of about 700,000 diesel vehicles to reduce NOx emissions.

The engine adjustments will be available for vehicles with the latest Euro 6 generation of diesel engines, the automaker's chief competitive officer, Thierry Bollore, told reporters in a briefing today at Renault's headquarters west of Paris.

"We are not cheating, we are meeting the norms, and we are not trying to trick the consumer," Bollore said.

French newspaper Les Echos reported on Saturday that Renault, Ford and Mercedes-Benz had come under the scrutiny of the government after real-world NOx emissions in some of their diesel models were shown to far exceed laboratory tests. The Captur, Espace minivan and an unnamed utility vehicle had emissions way above official limits, Les Echos said.

France started an investigation into diesel cars in September after VW admitted to rigging emissions tests with manipulated software on up to 11 million diesels sold worldwide. The probe involves testing 100 randomly chosen vehicles, including 25 Renault cars. Renault said the rest of the tests will not result in more recalls of its vehicles.

Renault has lost 3.3 billion euros ($3.6 billion) in market value since revealing last Thursday that fraud investigators had inspected three of its sites in France as part of the government probe.

Fixing the filters in the Captur will take about half a day per engine. The faulty filters turned on between 17 degrees Celsius (63 degrees Fahrenheit) and 35 degrees C. European tests for engine emissions are run at temperatures of 20 degrees to 30 degrees C. Average real-world temperatures in Paris are much lower, however. Daytime average highs there exceed 17 degrees C only between May and September.

Kako Amerikanci smanju emisiju NOx, za koju godinu neće biti isplativo da ugrađuju dizel motore ni u velike džipove tipa Q7, Range Rover i Grand Cherokee.

S druge strane u Evropi je odobreno da dizeli mogu da emituju 100% NOx više od dozvoljenog od 2019, a do 50% više od dozvoljenog od 2022. godine pa na dalje, tako da nema sumnje da će se dizelaši održati u Evropi, ali će novi dizelaši sredinom 2020-ih zagađivati do 50% više od benzinaca starih 20 godina (napravljenih sredinom 2000-ih).
