BMW will unveil the 2014 BMW M3 next year. InsideLine reports that this vehicle may be powered by a V6. Rumor has it that a highly advanced 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 is being developed by BMW for this car. The same publication also says that rejection of the inline-6 is related to its packaging and that BMW though of the V6 as a more perfect fit.
“The new V6 will be the first to mount its two twin-scroll turbochargers within the vee-angle, mirroring the company’s 4.4-liter V8 design. The This unique-to-BMW approach reduces the length of the inlet tract compared with a regular turbo-vee setup, helping to sharpen throttle response and minimizing heat buildup after air passes through the intercooler.”
The new engine can deliver around 429 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.
^^ I meni se tako cini
Proizvodice jos neko vreme 335i ali je pitanje da li ce im se, na duze staze, isplatiti proizvodnja tog motora, za kojim potraznja i nije tako velika
Confirmed: F80 BMW M3 Getting 450 HP Straight-6, Not V6
We’ve been wondering for some time now why BMW introduced the tri-turbo technology to the diesel 3.0-liter and not the gasoline N55 block in the 335i. However impressive the new super-diesels might be, they sound like a dilution of a sporting brand, as diesels are now on par with petrol engines in some models of the BMW range, not mentioning the fact that Audi is also doing the same thing with its V6s.
It looks like the reason was the next M3, as this car is now looking likely to become a tri-turbo inline-6 monster. Yes, you heard right, not a V6 monster.
BMW North America President, Mr. Ludwig Willisch, reportedly told BimmerPost that the next F80 M3 sedan and F82/83 two-door will actually be built using an inline-six cylinder engine.
The automaker has not decided if they should make it a twin-turbo or a tri-turbo model, but it seems obvious that the latter solution will be adopted, as BMW showed it want to increase efficiency with the M5, thus more low-end torque is a must.
Whatever the case, the new engine is likely to displace “around” 3.0-liters and produce 450 PS (331 kw or 444 hp), though other reports suggest it’s going to be a bespoke block, not a conversion of the existing N55 turbocharged straight-6.
Despite having two less cylinders than the current M3, the F80 will be filled with superlatives - lighter, faster, more powerful, and more efficient than the current model.

Life is funny, skies are sunny, Bees make honey, who needs money
Breaking from BMW M tradition the next generation M3s will each get their own "F" code. BMW M Brand manager Matt Russel explained that M cars now have 80% or greater parts differentiation from their non-M base car. With that in mind it made sense to split the M cars into their own F code.
The F30 3 sedan will be the F80 M3, the F31 wagon won't get an M version, the F32 3 coupe will be the F82 M3, the F33 3 convertible will be the F83 M3.

The 2014 M3 (F80) prototype which was spotted in Los Angeles this past weekend has made its way into the California Mojave Desert's Death Valley for high temperature testing.
With high temperature testing always comes the removal of some front end camouflage, necessary to increase the prototypes' air intake and cooling; which makes us the indirect beneficiaries of ever better looks at an exposed front end.
Yesterday's F80 M3 spy pics (some copied below) gave us the best idea yet of the lines and shape of the front end styling, and today's sighting adds to that by showing us some even more details - particular the lines of the front bumper air vents which could not be seen through the cloth covered front apron from yesterday's photos.
What it reveals is that although the top part of the bumper side air vents will resemble the 2013 M6 in its upward angle and existence of an extra fin (masked in these pics, but obvious when the cloth camoflage is pressed against the bumper), the bottom portion will differ. The bottom parts of the side air vents are now revealed to be even more aggressive than that on the M6, with more angles and dynamic shape. With this new view, the entire side air intake takes on an even more aggressive angular and flared look.
A closeup of the masked front bumper further confirms what's likely to be air curtain vents on the sides of the lower front bumper, but they remain covered by tape. The interior also shows a dark headliner and sunblinds (leather?), making this the most advanced prototype we've spotted yet.
Како ми је само гадан овај предњи део, гледам једнога сваки дан и не могу никако да га сварим...
И даље ми омиљени БМВ модели остају они до 2000-те. Од новијих актуелна серија 5 можда, и серија 6.
