....It admitted this week that it may have to cut production of its A380 superjumbo to fewer than one a month due to weak sales. Even worse, production of the much-anticipated A320neo regional jet was “to some extent” being delayed by problems with the delivery of engines from Pratt & Whitney,
But the first buyer, Qatar Airways, in 2015 refused to take delivery of the planes due to technical problems. Since the market launch that year, Airbus has delivered only around 100 of A320neos, far fewer than planned.
There were problems with a more-than-normal cooling time of the engines, and in some cases engines had to be removed after a short time in service because a bearing had failed or the combustion chamber had degraded. These issues should have been noticed during tests, but the company was clearly in a hurry to get the plane built and sold.. (kao sto odavno ovde izvesti zuzazu)
In addition, several of the planes aren’t being put to full use. Indian airline Indigo told its pilots not to fly them above 30,000 feet for the time being to avoid excessive wear to the engines. But at lower altitudes, the plane consumes more fuel, rendering its main selling point null and void.
